The Woodstock Environmental Advisory Committee say the 3rd Annual Car Free Sunday event in the downtown was their most successful thus far. W.E.A.C. Chair, Cara-Lee Coghill says "this has definitely been the best year in terms of attendance, certainly weather is on our side. I think it's just one of those events every year it will just grow in with enthusiasm and interest in the community. We have lots of community stakeholders involved now, lots of community organization and agencies". There were a number of demonstrations and activities for the public to check out including yoga, Tai Chi and a historic walking tour, just to name a few. Linda Johnston came out to promote the use of alternate modes of transportation. She says addressing this issue with our youth is important, "I think we need to promote it to our young people; that there's better ways to travel and better things to do on a Sunday. More family gatherings and less gasoline being used; gets them in the habit". The event is meant to help people adopt active and environmentally responsible lifestyles and choose active means of transportation for short distances.
