The West Region Highways Safety Division handed out 45 charges on Tuesday to commercial motor vehicle operators.
They had their aerial enforcement team catch the infractions on the 401 and 402 yesterday in the Oxford, London and Middlesex region. 35 of the charges handed out were for commercial motor vehicle operators following too closely.
Staff Sergeant Caren Ashmore explains why they did this aerial enforcement blitz.
"We want to ensure that we have safe roadways for all of the people in our communities, in order to do this, we will continue to support aerial enforcement programs and focused patrols in areas that we have issues that infringe on the safety of people in our communities."
The way this works is the police helicopter would catch the infractions and then radio it down to an OPP officer patrolling the highway.
