The next speaker series event offered through the Beachville District Historical Society will be all about a world championship speedboat racer.
BEACHVILLE - It's an opportunity to learn more about a local legend.
Embro's very own Bob Hayward was a world-champion unlimited speedboat racer from 1959 to 1961. His boat was named Miss Supertest III and it was one of the world's fastest speedboats, equipped with an aviation engine so it could go 175 miles per hour on the water.
If his name sounds familiar, he was also the great-uncle for former Heart FM personality Cody Hayward.
Bob Hayward's story will be the topic of the latest speaker series offered through the Beachville District Historical Society. The free event is happening at the Beachville Museum at tonight and everyone is welcome to stop by. Everything should get underway at 7:00 p.m.
