Mayor Trevor Birtch tells Heart FM it was very difficult to select a winner.
"A few instances where we had so many great entrants that were evaluated by the committee that we actually gave out more awards then we had originally planned."
Awards were handed out in a number of categories for industrial, commercial, institutional businesses, residential properties and a general award for excellence. Birtch tells Heart FM why the wanted to hand out these awards.
"This is to recognize the hard work of individuals in order to beautify our community, it's something that helps lift up the spirits of all of our neighbours and also provides a more welcoming atmosphere for visitors and tourists to the area."
