An independent MPP candidate is looking to change the norm in the upcoming election.
OXFORD COUNTY - Another MPP candidate has thrown his hat into the ring.
Dave Sikal will be running for the provincial election as an independent candidate.
He says that a change is needed from the big three parties.
"Well, we cannot change that which we do not acknowledge and the fact is we have a system that's not currently working for us. We need give people a good opportunity to have a real sound choice, a secondary choice besides the big three that currently exists."
Sikal says that he can better serve Oxford because he doesn't have a party to report to.
"What I can bring to the table is transparency and the fact is it won't be a whipped vote in my case. I'll tell the truth whether people like it or not. So it gives me a fair degree of autonomy and it gives the people trust in what I say I can do and what I will do."
He is currently a correctional officer from Ingersoll and has a background of assembly, manufacturing and finance.
