A few things are happening around Woodstock to celebrate seniors for seniors month.
WOODSTOCK - June is Seniors month and this year's theme is Vibrant Seniors, Vibrant Communities.
A few things are happening around Woodstock to celebrate seniors. South Gate Centre is hosting a free community BBQ today at noon under the Pergola.
They will also be one of many businesses taking part in the United Way Day of Caring tomorrow where they will bee building a new South Gate gazebo.
They are also hosting free Aquafit classes on June 11th and 25th and a Strawberry dinner and social on June 16th and our Summer Pepper Tournament on June 24th.
In a press release sent to Heart FM the centre said "they are proud to recognize the many talents, gifts, contributions and the vital role Senior's play in our community. Their wisdom, skills and abilities impact people of all ages and backgrounds. We recognize that seniors have contributed and continue to contribute immensely to the life and vibrancy of Woodstock. SENIORS are AWESOME!!! They are living longer, healthier more active lives and have redefined what it means to be a senior. Definitely something to celebrate!"
Seniors are the fastest growing population segment in Canada. By 2020, there will be more people over 65 years of age than under the age 12. For the first time in history, the seniors will outnumber the young.
