Norwich Township council briefs include moving forward with an EA assessment to allow for expansion of water and waste water services and how COVID-19 is impacting several services in the Township.
NORWICH - As with all of us, it is not quite business as usual in Norwich Township, they were thinking long term at their council meeting.
Council voted overwhelmingly to tell Oxford County to get moving on an environmental assessment that would allow for expansion of water and waste water services in the Township. Mayor Larry Martin wants to avoid a repeat of the 90's when there was a 10 year gap with no growth because there were not the services to support more users.
Council also heard about the impact of Covid 19 on a couple of services in Norwich. The Medical Centre reported that they were postponing appointments and doing some of their visits over the phone. Anyone who does come in is being pre-screened. They did report they had an adequate supply of PPE's.
Council was told even firefighters, have seen how they respond to calls undergo a major change. They are now limited to one firefighter per vehicle so firefighters were responding from home. They are also supposed to have their bunker gear with them, to be put on at the scene and removed and bagged at the scene as well. This is basically standard procedure across the province.
