Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be speaking with the opposition leaders over the phone today, following yesterday's ruling from the Board of Internal Economy to only allow fully vaccinated individuals in the House of Commons.
OTTAWA - Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will quite busy today with scheduled phone calls with Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and parliamentary leader of the Greens Elizabeth May.
They're going to discuss the return of Parliament on November 22nd and whether the government should use a hybrid format or resume in-person meetings.
Trudeau spoke with Bloc Quebecois Leader Yves-Francois Blanchet yesterday and they both agreed that only fully vaccinated individuals should be allowed in the House of Commons. The all-party Board of Internal Economy made the same decision afterwards.
This new rule will apply to everyone in the House of Commons including Members of Parliament, staff members, journalists and visitors.
The Liberals, NDP and Bloc Quebecois have said all of their MPs are fully vaccinated. Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole has not specified the vaccination status of his party's 118 MPs.
