There was a hole in the floor of the home, where they would push the feces into.
Over 40 dogs had to be rescued from a home in Burford over the weekend.
Hillside Kennels was called by Brant OPP, who attended the small bungalow on Saturday after getting a report of a sudden death at the home. They had 45 dogs and 4 cats inside. The animals were in rough shape, starved and will need weeks to recover.
Pet Save Sudbury was called into to help. They took 29 dogs, 6 of which went to North Bay to another rescue. Purrfect Companions in Norfolk took the 4 cats and Hillside has the remaining 8 dogs.
The dogs will have to go through a long process to get physically and mentally health again. They all had issues with their skin and were underweight.
Owner of Hillside Kennels Tracy Gibson says it was a horrific environment for the dogs.
"There was feces everywhere, everywhere and I have been in some pretty bad situations and this was horrible. There was a hole in the floor and the firefighter told me today, when he came out to talk to us that they would push the feces into the floor of the home."
Hillside Kennels is currently holding a fundraiser to help them care for these dogs. You can e transfer money to satosavedendoftheline@gmail.com. They are also looking for KURUNDA dog beds as well as other items. We will continue to update this page as more information comes out.
