A number of local restaurants, shops and events are participating in the annual September farm-to-table celebration
OXFORD COUNTY -- Tourism Oxford is encouraging everyone to dine, shop and cook local during the celebration of the annual farm-to-table celebration, Oxfordlicious.
Until the end of the month, a number of restaurants, shops and events are offering a variety of opportunities for people to enjoy local foods.
Tourism Specialist for Oxford County, Meredith Maywood says one activity that is very popular with tourists is eating local. "In Oxford County, as you know, we have a very strong representation of agricultural and culinary attractions. So it fits in well with what we offer in the county and gives people an opportunity, both local and visitors to get out and explore and get a taste of what Oxford is all about."
When people visit the participating locations, they receive a ballot for the opportunity to win prizes that include a Taste of Oxford basket full of locally produced products, gift cards for local culinary attractions and 1 of 2 Oxford Fresh Escapes that include accommodations and dinner.
Some of the local restaurants that are participating in Oxfordlicious include:
The Charles Dickens Pub
Dairy Capital Cheese Shoppe
Ody's
Oxford Kitchen
639
Elm Hurst Inn
Olde Bakery Cafe
Leaping Deer Adventure Farm & Market
Niko's
SkyWay Cafe
Quehl's
Maywood highlights that any time you borrow a cook book from the Oxford County Library, you will receive a ballot for a change to win one of the prizes.
"I think it's important to take time every year to recognize our local producers and it's good to have a reminder of what's available in your own backyard. So it's great for people to get out and enjoy that and also celebrate it."
