Council in Zorra Township with the help of the Recreation Advisory Committee are reaching out to residents for input with a Recreational Needs Survey.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP -- Zorra Township is working on a Recreational Master Plan, with the purpose aimed at guiding future development.
Recreation and Facilities Manager with the Township, Trevor Sanderson says input of residents is needed to prepare the plan, which will be reported to Council and its Recreation Advisory Committee later this year.
"There's been a lot of talk over the last few years about what we have, what we currently provide, what people may want and new and different changes trends in the industry. So we just want to get a good idea of what the general public of Zorra Township would like to see."
The survey tackles demographics, usage, facilities and cost recovery factors. While participation isn't mandatory, Sanderson says feedback is crucial in preparation for work being done for the Township's Recreation Master Plan.
"If we don't get a good number of responses, it's hard to really get a good idea of what people want in the Township, so I hope people just take the time to fill them out and hand them in."
Responses to the survey are confidential and gives people the option of completing them by hand or online.
Sanderson says the survey will help define what residents want for recreation spaces and activities. That also covers what areas and activities are underused, which Sanderson says the township can already track.
"We see how much is coming in for each different sport or facility, so we have a rough idea of what ideas are being used and which ones aren't. This definitely helps that."
Completed surveys can be dropped off at the following locations:
Embro Arena, Embro Cheese House, Embro Library JC Graphics, Thamesford
Harrington Hall or Library, Thamesford Arena, Thamesford Library or the Township of Zorra Office
Completed surveys can also be emailed to admin@zorra.on.ca
You can link to the survey online on the Township's website: www.zorra.on.ca
Deadline for completion is June 16th.
