Michael Rafferty's trial is off to a sluggish start on Day 1. The judge got through his opening address to the jury before taking a recess. Then Thomas Heeney asked for the courtroom to clear out and is set to meet privately with the lawyers after lunch break at 1:30 this afternoon. Prior to the break, the Crown Attorney told the court he would need an hour-and-a-half to deliver his opening statement. Heart FM's Blair Wilson will have details on what did happen on Day 1 of the trial when proceedings wrap up around 4:30 this afternoon.
