Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joyce Lock says residents can rest assured we will likely be moving out of lockdown on Tuesday based on our current numbers and moving into the red or orange tiers.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County and the Southwestern Public Health region can move into the colour coded system from the Province starting on Tuesday February 16th.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joyce Lock says the way the numbers are looking right now, we will definitely be moving out of the grey zone.
"I think everybody's hard work to try and keep COVID under control locally is paying off, so yes we can be assured we will not be in the grey lockdown."
Dr. Lock says a number of factors will play into the decision.
"Our numbers have been hovering between red and orange, however that said, that's not the only indicator that is used to make that decision. Other indicators include how has the health unit been able to manage the workload, how of our health care system partners, such as hospitals been able to manage with respect to ICU beds and in patient availability and the Province is looking very carefully of these new variants of concerns and where they are popping up."
She says right now, it looks like we would be moving towards the red or orange zone.
"All of those factors will play a role, so I suspect we will either be red or orange and we should know from the Province, hopefully by the end of the week, where we should land."
Either way, more businesses will be allowed to open when we move out of Grey. You can read exactly what it means to be in the orange and red zones online here.
