Police have issued an arrest warrant for 36 year old Derek Boyd after a stabbing outside a public school in St. Marys this morning. If you see this man, call 9-1-1 and do not approach him.
UPDATE - Derek Boyd has been located and arrested in London. There are no further concerns for public safety. Little Falls Public School remains under a hold and secure for a collection of evidence.
STRATFORD - Stratford Police are searching for a 36 year old man from London, wanted on charges of Attempted Murder.
Police say the man got into altercation with a woman in the parking lot outside of Little Falls Public School on Wednesday morning around 9:00 a.m. The man stabbed the woman several times before she was able to escape. The woman was able to get help and was taken to the St. Marys Hospital. She has since been transferred to the Victoria Hospital in London with life-threatening injuries.
The man has been identified as 36 year old Derek Boyd of London. Police have issued a warrant for his arrest on the charge of attempted murder.
Police are seeking the assistance of the public with locating Boyd. If anyone has any information as to his whereabouts, please call your local police service or 911 immediately. If Boyd is seen, please call 911 immediately and do not approach him.
Police would like to reassure the public that this is believed to be an isolated incident between Boyd and the female victim. As such, there are no safety concerns for the citizens of St Marys or the students at Little Falls Public School. Little Falls Public School was placed in a Hold & Secure to allow for the police investigation to occur.
Police remain on scene at the school to continue the investigation and to gather evidence. The school remains in a Hold & Secure, however the students are free to move about the school freely and the educational day is continuing as normal.
All students inside the school are safe and information regarding the status of the school will be updated when available.
