Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier Doug Ford were among the thousands of people who attended last night's vigil honouring the family that was targeted in the attack in London Sunday night.
LONDON - Thousands of people gathered outside the London Muslim Mosque to pay their respects to the victims of the recent attack.
A pickup truck struck a family of five Sunday night, killing four people and seriously injuring a nine-year-old boy. A 20-year-old has since been charged with four counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
London Mayor Ed Holder says this attack was an act of mass murder and a grotesque expression of hatred rooted in Islamophobia.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Premier Doug Ford and the leaders of the federal Conservatives, New Democrats and Greens attended last night's vigil. Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath also made an appearance alongside Ontario Liberal Leader Steven DelDuca.
Premier Ford said we're all shaken by this act of terrorism, while Prime Minister Trudeau said no words can ease the grief of seeing three generations murdered in their own neighbourhood.
To those who knew the Afzaal family, to the son who survived, to Muslims in London and in communities across Canada, to everyone who feels sad or angry or afraid: You are not alone. Canadians across the country are mourning with you and standing with you - tonight, and always. pic.twitter.com/MqMj1kKeTC

The scene in London tonight was heartbreaking. The impact of this act of terrorism is massive. What comes after grief is commitment. We have to commit ourselves to working across party lines, and with Premiers and mayors, to end the violence and hatred that took these lives. pic.twitter.com/UBzLVHjQ4C

I will be joining my Muslim friends and family in London, today.

To grieve with them.
To pray with them.
To be with them.
Because that's what we do for the people we love.#OurLondonFamily
Tonight I joined London's Muslim community in pain, sorrow and vigil.

Ontarians are united in mourning 3 generations of #OurLondonFamily, stolen by Islamophobic terror.
Let's unite in seeking lasting justice by eradicating white supremacy & violent groups spreading it. #ONpoli
Four innocent lives taken. A child left without a family. A community left reeling. A faith left terrified. That’s the result of the terrorist attack in London on Sunday. Tonight, I spoke at the @LondonMosque in solidarity with the Muslim community, but words are not enough. 1/3
