OXFORD COUNTY - United Way Oxford has provided additional funding to 11 not for profits in the County.
They had to choose from several applications to distribute the Emergency Community Support Fund from the Federal Government.
Executive Director Kelly Gilson says they had $116,000 to work with and they selected 11 not for profit groups after going over all of the applications.
"We made the decisions based on our knowledge of the community, our understanding of the needs that are necessary and understanding of where the gaps are. There are some great organizations across Oxford who are doing great work in helping people access food, support and shelter, mental health supports in particular. These are difficult times for many, isolation and loneliness are really impacting people, so those were areas that mattered a lot to us. Food security and safety and those kind of supports as well, intervention, emergency supports really matter to some of our most vulnerable."
The 11 organizations who received funding are as follows:
- Operation Sharing – Food, Equipment and Cleaning Supplies for Bullwinkles and The Inn
- Tillsonburg Seniors Centre – Accessible Programming Support
- Oxford County Community Health Centre – Mobile Health Outreach Bus Supplies
- Children’s Aid Society Oxford – Mental Health Rapid Response for Youth in crisis
- Woodstock Hospital – Mental Health & Addictions Resource & Community Systems Navigator
