The meeting was just announced today and will be a closed session of council for the purpose of receiving advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege.
The City of Woodstock will have a special meeting of council on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
The meeting is called for the purpose of receiving advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege.
You will be able to watch the meeting on live stream through the City's YouTube channel, however the entire meeting will be in closed session and will not be filmed. The filming portion will begin at the start to call the meeting and then council will need to approve a motion to move to in camera session. Council will then come back on screen after the closed session, at which time they can make the findings of the closed session public, or they can simply call for the adjournment of the meeting.
This comes after the Mayor of Woodstock, Trevor Birtch was charged with assault, sexual assault and sexual assault with violence. It is not immediately clear if the Mayor will attend the meeting. Birtch is also expected to be at the Oxford County council meeting on Wednesday morning at 9:30 am and has not given any indication on whether or not he will show up.
The Mayor can miss multiple meetings without losing his position or pay.
Trevor Birtch has not issued any kind of statement since the charges against him were made public.
