The Woodstock Wave were the only local team in last weekend's Dragon Boat Festival, but they came away with two medals. The ranked in 15th out of the 40 teams who competed last Saturday.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Wave claimed a silver medal in this past weekend's Woodstock Rotary Dragon Boat Festival.
The club finished in second in the Gold Division Consolation Final.
Co-Manager Ethan Smith says it was the team's best turnout.
"They're feeling great. They're on cloud nine, it's just been amazing for them and they're excited to move forward with the rest of the season."
The team finished with a time of 2:28.58 and they also captured a gold medal in the Community Challenge, finishing with a time of 2:23.51.
Smith adds it was great to perform in front of their home crowd.
They were among the teams at the Pittock Conservation Area on Saturday. The event also saw local community team The Strokers pick up a silver medal in the Iron Division Consolation Race.
He says everyone was thrilled with how they performed.
"We actually didn't know that the Community Challenge had been reinstate, we thought that had been a thing of the past. So when we went up to get our silver medals and they told us we also got a gold, people were jumping for joy, they were excited to get two medals. It was just an exciting time."
The Woodstock Wave ranked in 15th out of the 40 teams who competed.
Smith says they're looking forward to the rest of the season. The Woodstock Wave have two more festivals in Stratford and in Christie Lake in Dundas.
