OXFORD COUNTY - A collision at an intersection in Oxford County involving a motorcycle and a vehicle has left one person in hospital.
Oxford OPP, along with Waterloo Region OPP and EMS arrived on scene yesterday afternoon at the intersection of Oxford Road 5 and Punkeydoodles Avenue.
Constable Ed Sanchuk says the motorcyclist was ejected as a result of the collision.
"A 57 year-old operator of that motorcycle from New Hamburg has been taken to hospital and the driver of that motor vehicle has been subsequently charged with failed to yield to through traffic.
Sanchuk says the motorcyclist was treated for his injuries at a local hospital.
He says motorists need to pay more attention on the roads.
"Motorcycle operators do not have the same protection as we do in our vehicles and we need to keep an eye out for those individuals on the bikes, it's a simple as that. As for the operator itself, that operator, nine times out of ten when we investigate collisions, the motorcycle operators are not at fault. So we need to make sure that we are paying attention."
Sanchuk says the extent of the man's injuries are unknown at this time.
The road has since been reopened.
