OXFORD COUNTY - The former leader of the Federal Conservative Party has decided to back one of the candidates for the Oxford Conservative Nomination.
In a video on his Twitter page this morning, Andrew Scheer announced that he is supporting Arpan Khanna in his run for the Conservative candidacy for the upcoming by-election. Khanna is from Brampton and he’s currently living in Woodstock. He’s also serving as the National Outreach Chair for the federal Conservatives.
I’m endorsing @ArpanKhanna in the Oxford CPC nomination race.

Arpan will be an excellent MP, and I know he will work tirelessly to make our leader Pierre Poilievre the next Prime Minister of Canada.
I hope you'll support him as well?????? pic.twitter.com/Yejhoh4KMc
Woodstock City-County Councillor Deb Tait is also running for the Oxford Conservative nomination alongside Gerrit Van Dorland and Rick Roth. Van Dorland is from Otterville and he is an executive assistant to Saskatchewan Conservative MP Jeremy Patzer. Roth grew up in Tillsonburg and he is the Vice President Strategic Communications for Global Public Affairs.
Those interested in running have until tomorrow to put their name forward. Tomorrow is also the deadline for those would like to purchase a party membership in order to vote in nomination race.
Dave MacKenzie officially retired as Oxford County's Conservative MP on January 28th after representing the community for almost 20 years. When he found out that Scheer was endorsing an Oxford nominee he had this to say on Twitter...
Why is Andrew Scheer involved in a nomination in Oxford by supporting an individual from Brampton. I would ask Oxford Conservatives to to show their distaste for this kind of interference.
