The Oxford Public Library has launched a new E-service called Axis 360.
Patrons of the libraries in Oxford County can now access ebooks on Axis 360.
The new service will launch today and it will allow library users to download books and movies onto their iPad, iPhone, Android, Windows, Nook and Sony ReaderTM devices along with several others. Branch Supervisor Sarah McDonald tells Heart FM they will have current and popular titles available on Axis 360.
"Focus of the titles are new releases, best sellers and we did want to incorporate a lot of Canadian titles as well, so the focus is definitely on hot releases so example for today 15th affair by James Patterson is available to patrons and that is a brand new release."
Axis 360 is in addition to the OverDrive digital service already available through the Oxford County Library. McDonald says they will have the downloads available on a first come first serve basis.
"One title one checkout, so only one patron can take out a title at a time, we offer a different e-service called Overdrive and what's different between Axis and Overdrive is with Axis 360 we don't have a hold list, so we aren't going to have patrons waiting a month at a time for a title, we are sort of calling this our lucky day collection."
