22,000 chickens perished in the blaze that left a barn completely destroyed
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Oxford OPP along with 4 Fire Departments responded to a barn fire yesterday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m. on the 45th Line just north of Road 68 in Zorra Township.
The barn was located on a large poultry farm, and housed approximately 22,000 chickens. A resident of the property contacted emergency personnel after they discovered the fire. All of the chickens inside perished in the blaze as the barn was completely destroyed. No injuries have been reported that saw the Embro, Thamesford, Uniondale and Hickson fire stations attend the scene. The fire is not believed to be suspicious but is still under investigation.
