OXFORD COUNTY - The Woodstock Ingersoll Tillsonburg and Area Association of Realtors (WITAAR) has announced the winner of the 2024 Realtors Care Award.

President Alison Porter says Revel Realty's very own Cassandra Benard was honoured during the Christmas party for WITAAR last week.

"Cassandra is a very worthy recipient of this award. She is diligent in her ongoing support to better the lives of individuals in the communities of Oxford County and surrounding areas. Cassandra exemplifies those REALTORS® who have made long-term contributions to the communities in which they live. They help to promote public awareness that REALTORS® are committed to their communities and care deeply enough to be actively involved."

She has been with the real estate board for five years; serving as an active member of the Board of Directors for two years, helping organize the Realtors Care Food Drive for four years, and she's set to become President in 2025.

Outside the real estate board, some of her accomplishments include serving as the Hike for Hospice Chair for 10 years, being a Co-Chair for Women United, and helping United Way Oxford purchase the Light House transitional housing location in Tillsonburg.

The recipient of the Realtors Care Award always gets to choose a local charity that will receive a $500 donation from WITAAR. Benard explains why she decided to choose United Way Oxford.

"In 2023, I was honoured to help United Way Oxford open the Light House in Tillsonburg, transitional housing to help support our homeless population. This project has been a huge success, and with the help of some additional municipal funding, we will officially be replicating the program in Ingersoll with an open date of early 2025. I see how the housing crisis is affecting our community firsthand, and I could not think of a better, tangible project to support."
