Reports suggest PPC Leader Maxime Bernier is planning to announce his byelection candidacy for the Portage-Lisgar riding in Manitoba.
MANITOBA - It looks like Maxime Bernier is getting ready to enter a federal byelection in Manitoba.
There are several reports that the leader and founder of the People's Party of Canada is planning to announce his candidacy for the federal seat in the Portage-Lisgar riding tomorrow.
It was held by longtime Conservative MP Candice Bergen, but she announced her resignation this past February.
Bernier used to serve as a cabinet minister for the Conservative Party, but he decided to quit back in 2018. He believed the Conservative Party was too intellectually and morally corrupt to reform, so he started the PPC.
Bernier has said in the past that he wants to give his party more visibility and he wants to be able to participate in the federal leaders debate during the next election.
