Police say two crashes involving motorcycles happened in the eastbound lanes of the 403 in Brantford this morning.
BRANTFORD - The OPP responded to multiple crashes on the 403 in Brantford earlier today.
In a video posted on the OPP West Region Twitter page, Constable Conrad Vitalis says the first call came in shortly after 4:00 a.m.
"Brant OPP members responded to a collision on Highway 403 eastbound, near the County Line east of Jerseyville Road, involving a motorcycle. One person was transported to hospital with serious injuries."
The Brant OPP closed all of the eastbound lanes between Garden Ave/County Road 18 (Exit 41) and Trinity Road/County Road 52 (Exit 55) for the investigation.
Vitalis says officers discovered the second crash while responding to the first.
"Officers responding to that collision came upon a secondary collision, Highway 403 eastbound near Wayne Gretzky Parkway, involving a motorcycle and two other motor vehicles."
Vitalis says one person died in hospital, but their identity has not been released at this time as officers notify their friends and family. Officers closed off all of the eastbound lanes close to Wayne Gretzky Parkway for that investigation as well.
There is no word as to when the road closures will be lifted at this time.
