
OPP investigating a rash of break and enters in Norwich and a Zorra man is charged with assault.
OXFORD COUNTY -- An assault in Zorra Township along with a string of break and enters in Norwich kept OPP busy over the weekend.
Oxford Police say they responded to a dispute between neighbours on Zorra Line Sunday around 3:30 pm afternoon. A brief investigation lead to the arrest of 51 year-old Steven Somerville of Zorra Township.
Somerville has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. Somerville was taken into custody waiting for a bail hearing.
In Norwich, between Friday and Sunday, police responded to three separate reports of break and enters in the town. The first happened on Carmen Street between 10:00 am June 6th and 12:00 am June 7th. Culprits made off an Xbox console and games, a laptop and concrete saw. The items were worth roughly $2500.
Between 6:00 and 10:30 pm on Saturday, thieves made off with a 16GB iPhone, Armani men's watch and a set of keys from a home on Stover Street. That same day, a residence on Main Street was broken into between 4:00 and 5:30 pm. An iMac desktop computer, 17 inch computer screen, Toshiba laptop an jewerllery were taken from the home. The value of the items is approximately $4000.
