Woodstock Police were kept busy this weekend with 182 calls for service including drunk driving and a collision at Dundas and Norwich.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police had a busy weekend with 182 calls for service.
Although several drivers were charged throughout the weekend, none of the 580 drivers stopped at R.I.D.E. programs were found to be under the influence.
On Saturday police pulled over a brown Hyundai Santa Fe near Vincent Street. The driver had two licence suspensions and no insurance for the vehicle. The driver was charged with 3 highway traffic offences and 1 offence under the automobile insurance act.
On Sunday police were called out to the scene of an accident at Dundas Street and Norwich Avenue. A 35 year old man had been struck by a vehicle. The man suffered minor injuries to his leg and ankle and was transported to hospital. The 43 year old woman who was driving the vehicle was charged with Fail to Yield to a Pedestrian.
And then on Monday night police received a complaint about an impaired driver in a gold GMC Envoy in the Springbank area. The vehicle and driver were found a short time later in the area of Lansdowne Avenue and Nellis Street. A 42 year old Woodstock man was arrested and charged with Fail to Provide a Sample of Breath.
Additionally police charged other drivers with:
7 tickets for disobey stop sign
1 for distracted driving
3 expired validation stickers
2 speeding
1 parking
3 other highway traffic act offences
3 alcohol related offences
Police were also out on the water over the weekend, along with the Ministry of Natural Resources. All boat operators at Pittock Lake were found to be sober. One man was charged with angling with more than one fishing pole. Two other people were charged with speeding, and 8 others were warned under the Canada Shipping Act for equipment related offences, such as not having flashlights and whistles on their boats.
