Busy Summer for Ingersoll Cheese and Agriculture Museum

If you're looking for something to do this summer, the Ingersoll Cheese and Agriculture Museum is hosting some events.

INGERSOLL - The Ingersoll Cheese and Agriculture Museum is putting on multiple events this summer.

One of those events will include the 40th anniversary of the tornado in Woodstock.

Museum Assistant Anne Miller says the Harvest Festival is also among the most popular.

"I think any time people come in they're amazed at just how much we have here, celebrating the history of Ingersoll. They love to get their photo taken with the Man of Cheese and the Cheese Factory and they're just taken in by the displays and all of the local history that we have here. And so, yeah, we do get a lot of families that come in and grandparents and kids who just enjoy checking it all out."

She says the annual festival will have different activities and vendors on hand.

"So there are people that come and bring threshing equipment and so people can watch demonstrations of that. There's also, if memory serves, we have craft activities and games setup and that sort of thing. And certainly all of the buildings on site are open, I'm pretty sure we have food vendors here for Harvest Fest. So there's a lot to do."

Miller says they're bringing in a storm chaser who will speak on their experience covering tornadoes and storms in honour of marking 40 years since a tornado hit the Friendly City.

The Driftwood Outdoor Theatre will also perform A Midsummer Night's Dream on August 16th. She says you can bring a lawn chair and blanket as they perform out in the park. The event will have a pay-what-you-can admission.

The lecture on the 40th anniversary is on August 7th, meanwhile the Harvest Festival will be on August 31st.
