CAMI in Ingersoll is Hiring

A hiring spree in underway as CAMI hopes to take on new tradespeople and production line workers.

INGERSOLL - Job seekers could find a new position at CAMI Ingersoll as they look to take on hundreds of new employees.

Plant chair Mike Van Boekel says they are looking for people to work in production as well as skilled tradespeople. "They're looking for a couple hundred in production and I don't have a number but a substantial number of skilled trades - mostly electricians. The production jobs start at over $20 an hour, and the skilled trades start at over $40 an hour, so they're decent paying jobs."

Van Boekel says they have been bringing on more people over the past few months now that the 400 000 square foot addition has been completed. "They started about two years ago on building it. It took about two years to build it and now they're tooling it up, getting the power going and everything. So they've been hiring fairly steadily for the past six months but they'll be hiring for quite a few months going forward as they get ready to load up for launch."

This plant makes both the Terrain and the Equinox, and Van Boekel says they are facing a huge demand for those vehicles, so they anticipate the hiring spree to continue for a while longer.
