Canada Day Fun in Southside Park

The day will include live music, food trucks, the Great Canadian Kids Zone, and a fireworks display.

WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock is getting ready for its annual Canada Day celebration in Southside Park.

It's running from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Monday July 1st, and it's free for members of the public to attend.

Manager of Special Events Kristen Broadhagen says there are going to be food trucks, vendors, and the Great Canadian Kids Zone as well.

"We have escape rooms, inflatable obstacle courses, face painting, balloon artists, petting zoo, photo booth, and all of the good things that are typically at our events that everyone loves."

There's also going to be live music throughout the day including a headlining performance from the Mudmen at 8:00 p.m.

A 20-minute fireworks display will light up the night sky afterward and Broadhagen says firefighters will be setting them off across the street.

"So we moved them across the street to the old golf course property so it opens up the park to be able to utilize for the event. It's still a great fireworks display, you're able to see it from the park and the main stage."

The city has banned personal fireworks displays as of January 1st this year, but groups are still able to host larger scale fireworks displays if they  meet the necessary requirements.

Broadhagen says there will be lots of free places to park for the festivities including the Jack Dunn Memorial parking lot, the Reeves Community Complex, St. Mary's Catholic High School, and College Ave Secondary School. You can also park on nearby street and there will be accessible parking available outside the washrooms in Southside Park.
