TILLSONBURG - Police are crediting an alert citizen in helping them catch a thief in Tillsonburg.
OPP say a 33 year old man from Bayham was looking into vehicles at the underground parking lot at the Tillsonburg Town Centre on Monday afternoon. An alert citizen set off their car alarm to draw attention to the man and called police immediately.
Officers arrived on the scene and were told by a local business that a theft had just taken place inside the store.
Officers located the suspect and a brief foot pursuit took place. The suspect was arrested and is charged with shoplifting, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and escape lawful custody.
