A number of parks and recreation amenities will reopen on Friday in the City of Woodstock including public washrooms and beach volleyball courts and they are working towards opening the splash pads and Lions pool.
WOODSTOCK - A number of parks and recreation amenities will reopen on Friday in the City of Woodstock and they are working towards opening the splash pads and Lions pool.
The Parks and Recreation Department released their plan for phase 2 today. Everyone is reminded that social distancing of at least two meters for individuals outside of your household is still in effect for your safety at all facilities, amenities and programs.
During Stage One the following amenities were opened and remain open in the City of Woodstock:
- Park benches,
- Skate Park,
- Dog Park,
- Community Gardens,
- Basketball Courts,
- Tennis Courts,
- Pickleball Courts,
- Recreational use of Baseball and Soccer Fields.
With Stage 2 on Friday the following amenities will be opened:
- Public Washrooms at Southside Park and Cowan Fields. These will be open from 8:30am-3:00pm (Monday to Friday).
- Beach Volleyball Courts and the Cricket Field at Southside Park are open for bookings and recreation play.
- Parks will be accepting field and court bookings for practices with 10 or fewer people. To book a field, court or gazebo please call 519-539-7695 x4101. Gazebo bookings will resume for September 14.
- Please be reminded for all courts and sports fields that no games or scrimmages are permitted and only 10 people or less are allowed at one time.

Splash Pads
The City is also working towards opening the Splash Pads listed below. Splash Pads will open once health inspectors have completed their inspections and certified them for opening. Notification of exact dates of opening will be posted on the City of Woodstock website and Facebook Page.
- Vansittart Park Splash Pad
- Cowan Fields Splash Pad
Here is the statement from the City regarding Lions pool:
"With council's approval we will move quickly to open Lions Pool as soon as possible. Opening of the pool is dependent on a health inspector certifying the pool can re-open, repairs to the liner and hiring and training staff. Notification of the opening date will be posted on the City of Woodstock website and Facebook Page."
Aquatic Programming
Staff are working towards offering programming opportunities such as regular drop in programs with modified capacities and delivery. Please look for updates to the City of Woodstock website for dates/times, specifications and requirements for each program.
Closed Until Further Notice
The Southside Aquatic Centre is currently closed for maintenance. The Wading Pool at Southside Aquatic Centre will remain closed through Phase Two as per government guidelines around safe use of water park play structures such as slides.
Arenas
Both the Reeves Community Complex and Civic Centre will remain closed for the time being. Consideration will be given to re-open the arenas as we approach Phase Three.
Cowan Park Sportsplex Indoor facility will remain closed for the time being. Consideration will be given to re-open the facility as we approach Phase Three.
