Oxford Public Health issues first cold weather alert of the year
OXFORD COUNTY - It took just five days for Oxford Public Health to issue their first cold weather alert of the year.
This comes as Environment Canada forecasts wind chill temperatures of -26 today and temperatures below -12 until Wednesday.
Residents are being asked to protect themselves if they plan on going outside as over-exposure to the cold could result in frostbite or hypothermia. Public Health says those especially at risk include older adults, infants and young children, outdoor workers, those who like outdoor sports such as skiing and hiking, and homeless persons and others who do not have shelter, proper clothing or food.
