Oxford County Council had their turn discussing the Building Faster Fund at their latest meeting.
OXFORD COUNTY - It was Oxford County Council's turn to discuss the building faster fund.
At their latest meeting, a debate was had regarding the 1.9 million dollars given to the County from Woodstock for a new homelessness service centre. Warden, Marcus Ryan says the County is fully behind this idea.
"I think this is a giant step forward, it opens up huge potential for us to do something really meaningful for everybody who is effected by homelessness in Oxford County."
At the meeting yesterday, the Executive Director of Operation Sharing, Tim Dukes gave a speech stating putting the 1.9 million dollars towards a homelessness service centre is the best option. Warden, Marcus Ryan mentions he thought it was important to hear from Dukes.
"He spoke to what Operation Sharing sees everyday and what their challenges are. Even with the great work they do every day to support the homelessness population, there's limitations and they are frustrated because they want to do more, they think they can be more effective."
Up next is having County staff come back with a report on what it will take for a service centre to become reality. Warden Ryan thinks that report should be presented early in the new year.
