The county has committed $1.7 million to finish work on County Road 8
HICKSON - Oxford County has committed $1.7 million to finish rebuilding County Road 8.
Work has already been done from Embro Road part way over to Hickson. Warden David Mayberry tells Heart FM the new construction will take the repairs all the way from the west limit of Hickson to the 10th line. "We purchased some land on either side so we can widen the road to build a better base, to build a wider and safer road for the travelling public. We know that there is a certain amount of agriculture activity on that road and that machinery and all that is bigger and so having a wider road, a better road, is probably a good idea."
The approval at county council was for the reconstruction of the road realignment and widening. Mayberry says they hope to have the road done by the end of the year, however he notes it all depends on the weather. The contract went to Steve Smith Construction for construction along part of County Road 8.
