The Craigowan Golf Course won the Golden Ladle Trophy and the People's Choice Award at the DASO Soupstock fundraiser.
WOODSTOCK - The Craigowan Golf Club took home two victories at the Domestic Abuse Services Oxford (DASO) Soupstock Fundraiser.
Their Potato Corn Chowder with Saffron Cream took home the Golden Ladle Trophy, given by local judges, and the People’s Choice Award.
Chef Roddy Eastman tells us what inspired award winning creation.
“I’m a big fan of childhood memories where you have that potato soup you can relate to it and then we also had a little twist where we had some coconut milk, some saffron, and also some curry that helps the dish."
Sophie Foster, the Public Education and Fundraiser Coordinator for DASO, says there were roughly 300 people who came to the tastings, which is more than last year.
“The 11:30 a.m. seating, people just kept coming. I was totally swung by that and a lot of the restaurants were swung by that too, they were kind of freaking out thinking they were gonna run out of soup."
The fundraiser was a big a success end, with over $8,000 raised for DASO.
This is the second year in a row that Craigowan Golf Club has been victorious, and Chef Eastman is excited to participate again next year.
According to Foster, the Craigowans’ take on the Potato Corn Chowder won by a landslide. However, there were also many other delicious soups at the tasting:
Whisk + Roll Bakery – Dill Pickle Soup
Finkle St. Tap & Grill– Lobster Bisque
DASO – Roasted Tomato Soup + Grilled Cheese Croutons
Charles Dickens – Chicken + Sweet Corn Chowder
Boston Pizza – French Onion Soup
Brickhouse Brewpub– Loaded Potato + Leek Soup
Chris’ Seafood – Seafood Chowder
