The federal Conservative Party will have a new leader by September 10th and party members have until April 19th to enter the leadership race.
OTTAWA - Federal Conservative Party members have until April 19th put their name forward if they want to become the next party leader.
They will also have to pay a $200,000 entry fee, on top of a $100,000 deposit in order to make sure they follow the rules. They will get their deposit back once a new party leader is elected September 10th.
All membership applications must be submitted by June 3rd and the ballots will be sent to party members in late July or early August.
The federal Conservative Party's leadership election organizing committee adopted the rules and set a date for the election yesterday.
