The woman was not injured and she was not charged after going over the barrier and hitting the drive-thru sign.
STRATFORD - Stratford police responded to a call after an elderly woman had struck the drive-thru sign at a Tim Hortons on 1067 Ontario Street.
The incident happened on June 27th at 2:30 pm and when police arrived on scene, they learned the woman was parking her car when she missed the brake pedal and mistakenly hit the gas. Her vehicle accelerated over the barrier and she struck the menu sign.
Unfortunately the menu sign will likely need to be replaced, however the driver was not injured and there were no other vehicles in the drive-thru at the time of the incident.
The driver was an 80-year-old resident of Stratford and no charges will be laid.
The Stratford Police would like to thank all passers-by who assisted the driver after this incident occurred and for the patience and understanding of all employees at Tim Hortons.
