The Canadian women's hockey team secured a spot in the gold medal match this morning after celebrating a 10-3 victory over Switzerland.
BEIJING - Oxford County's very own Ella Shelton will be competing in the gold medal match at the Beijing Olympics.
The Canadian women's hockey team absolutely crushed Switzerland this morning with a final score of 10-3, securing a spot in the gold medal final on Thursday. They will face the winner of the U.S. vs. Finland match scheduled for 8:10 a.m. today.
In other Olympic news, Christine de Bruin also won the bronze medal in the women's monobob event this morning.
Team Canada won two other medals over the weekend, Eliot Grondin and Meryeta O'Dine won bronze in the mixed team snowboard cross event on Saturday and Steven Dubois won bronze in the men's 500 metre short track speed skating event yesterday.
This brings Team Canada's total medal count to 15; one gold, four silver and ten bronze.
