Firefighters Honoured In Brant County

20 firefighters in Brant County were celebrated with the Long Marshal's Service Award on November 22nd.

BRANT COUNTY -  Brant County recently celebrated the Fire Marshal’s Long Service Awards.

The Long Service Award is meant as an expression of the community's appreciation for their service to the community and 20 firefighters and fire department officials were recognized for their service and dedication.

Brant County has eight fire stations and approximately 180 firefighters in the County. They attend training sessions and meetings throughout the year to ensure they are ready for the tasks to safely and efficiently respond to the situations.

The following recipients were recognized at the ceremony:

Kevin Hall- Deputy District Chief for 25 years in Burford

Phil McLeod- Firefighter for 25 years in Paris

Harry Timmerman- Firefighter for 25 years in St. George

Bruce Barrett- Captain for 25 years in Paris

Chuck Greenwood- Captain for 25 years in Burford

Len Proulx- Captain for 25 years in Scotland

Jim Roswell- Firefighter for 25 years in Paris

Mark Szentimrey- Deputy District Chief for 25 years in St. George

John Fazekas- Deputy District Chief for 30 years in Paris

Jay Little- Captain for 30 years in St. George

Jim Donn- Deputy District Chief for 30 years in Scotland

Brian Poss- Firefighter for 30 years in Scotland

Tom Waldschmidt- Fire Prevention Officer for 30 years in Fire Administration

Barry McBlain- District Chief for 35 years in Onondaga

Tom Croome- Firefighter for 35 years in Paris

Geoff Hayman- Fire Chief for 35 years in Fire Administration

James McBay- Firefighter for 40 years in Onondaga

Michael Smith- District Chief for 40 years in Cainsville

Dewey Robinson- Deputy District Chief for 45 Years in Paris

Norm Booth- Captain for 45 years in Mt. Pleasant

The County says firefighters are an important part of any community, keeping the people safe and risking their lives for the cause. They say everyone is very grateful for the firefighters that have committed their careers to the community.
