Ingersoll has a limited supply of trees that it is making available to residents.
INGERSOLL- The Fall Free Tree program is going fast. The program offers free trees to Ingersoll residents; preference is being given to those who are living in new developments or who have had a tree removed. Residents are eligble for one tree of their choice of three varieties which include; Variegated Maple, London Planetree and Red Oak.
The catch is residents must plant the trees on their own property, facing the street. The aim is to plant them on the street so that they will 'beautify' the neighbourhood. Town of Ingersoll, Administrative Assistant Lenore Capern adds that the trees cannot be planted near overhead power, sewer, gas or water lines. "Every winter we do a tree removal program that they take down trees that are decaying or dead and those people get preference for the free tree."
The trees are bareroot and will be dropped off with an instruction sheet explaining how to plant them.
If you are interested in acquiring a tree you can contact Lenore Capern at the Town of Ingersoll or Doug Wituik the Public Works manager. Capern advises those that are interested move quickly because limited qualities are available.
Lenore Capern can be reached at 519-485-0120 ext. 2223 or by e-mail lcapern@ingersoll.ca
