Students and parents at the Robarts School for the Deaf in London are worried about their future.
The MPP for Oxford County has asked the Minister of Education for a commitment to keep Robarts School for the Deaf in London open.
Ernie Hardeman made the statement yesterday as members of the school joined a demonstration at Queens Park on Thursday. They are worried the Liberals will close special schools like Robarts to help save money. Hardeman also talked about a 4 year old student "Jaya" from Woodstock who attends Robarts and has already benefited immensely.
"We were contacted by the family as they pointed out how she has just started at the Robarts School and in fact she can now express herself to the family and is building confidence. She is only 4 years old and it is a great concern that just as she is starting to learn and starting to improve that they are suggesting they are going to quit providing this education."
The government has announced they will re-open the registration for the coming year, but they have not committed yet to keeping it open beyond that.
