WOODSTOCK - There's a new gazebo at Ingamo Homes.
This is all thanks to a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which was worth $67,200.
The gazebo was built earlier this month, and it will provide a covered outdoor space for women and children impacted by violence in the transitional housing program. The grant money also helped pay for new lighting and seating.
Executive Director of Ingamo Homes, Diane Harris is grateful for the funding.
"The project will address the need for women, children, and staff to safely connect as a group by building a covered outdoor space with lighting and seating that allows for natural air flow and social distancing. Connecting as a wider group allows program staff to deliver counselling programs, skill sharing sessions and resources in a cohesive manner. This project will benefit the women and children whose experiences of domestic violence have led to isolation, loss of supports, and difficulties building healthy connections with others."
Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman stopped by Ingamo this afternoon (Thursday, October 26th) to check out the upgrades for himself.
