Half load season has started in Perth County.
PERTH COUNTY - The Perth County OPP are reminding drivers that half load season is in effect throughout the County of Perth.
The half load restrictions are put in place to protect roads from being permanently damaged due to heavy loads. The roadways are more susceptible throughout the County due to heavy load damage during the spring thaw.
Passenger vehicles are exempt from this restriction on the use of roadways.
Officers will be monitoring commercial vehicle traffic over the next few months, ending on April 30th. Commercial vehicles are restricted to 5 tonnes per axle during the half load season.
Commercial vehicles are asked to plan ahead, confirming travel routes and to obey all road signs where access is restricted.
The half load restrictions will also end on April 30th in Perth County. There is no anticipated impact on passenger vehicles within Perth County.
