Ernie Hardeman has been Oxford's Conservative MPP for 23 years, and he looking to add four more.
WOODSTOCK - Oxford's Conservative MPP is running for re-election.
Ernie Hardeman officially opened his Woodstock campaign office at 408 Dundas Street yesterday morning.
He is the longest serving MPP for Oxford County; with 23 years under his belt.
"Quite often somebody will tell me 'it must be a tedious job always listening to people with complaints.' Well there's a lot of complaints that true, that's why I'm there but every once in a while you get somebody come in that says 'thank you we didn't know what to do but we got it solved' and that makes up for all of the ones that you've had to deal with that were maybe less than amicable."
Hardeman says there have been lots of highlights over the years.
"To start with being elected for the first time; there's no greater thrill than walking into the majestic building in Toronto and being picked by the people of Oxford to go there and represent them there; that was really the highlight."
During his time in office Hardeman he helped pass the Hawkins Gignac Act in 2013; which made it law to have carbon monoxide detectors in all Ontario homes.
His latest private members bill; the Willing Host Bill recently passed second reading, but will have to be reintroduced again after the election. He hopes to see it come to fruition in the near future.
