ONTARIO - Premier Doug Ford is about to make a big announcement alongside Health Minister Sylvia Jones.
The press conference will be taking place at 10:00 a.m. in Toronto today and no further details have been released.
However, The Canadian Press has reported that the Ford Government is planning to unveil a multi-phase plan to start performing publicly funded surgeries in private clinics, citing government sources. Phase one would include cataract surgeries while the second phase would include knee replacements, hip replacements, and diagnostic tests.
This should help address the backlog of surgeries in Ontario's hospital system.
