A single vehicle accident has ended with tragedy. A 59-year-old from Mississauga was driving a transport truck, when the road underneath it collapsed. Emergency crews responded, and pronounced the driver dead on the scene.
THAMES CENTRE - Yesterday (Wednesday, August 23rd), at 10:08 p.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP, Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and Southwest Middlesex Fire, were dispatched to Dundonald Road in Thames Centre, for the report of a serious, single vehicle collision.
The roadway collapsed underneath a transport truck as it travelled on Dundonald Road, resulting in the collision. Water levels were very high as significant storms with heavy rainfall, passed through the area.
The driver, a 59-year-old of Mississauga and lone occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at scene.
The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team was on scene to assist with the investigation.
Dundonald Road has been closed and is expected to remain closed for the next week or two as County roads repair the roadway.
