Alexandra Hospital is about to get one step closer to electronic health records.
INGERSOLL - It's an exciting time at Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll.
The hospital has hired on three new family doctors; Dr. Amy Blake, Dr. Jay Taylor and Dr. Elizabeth Allen.
They've also hired on Angela Lekavicius as a Clinical Director, Andrew Pearson as their Director of Human Resources and Krista Muncaster as the Director of Quality, Patient Safety, and Patient Experience and Relations.
CEO, Sandy Jansen on what the hiring's mean.
"That insures that we have that continuity of care in the community for people who need family physicians and again, nice and close to home so they don't have to get in their car and drive down the 401 to find medical care anymore."
They're also getting ready to enter into a new phase of their electronic record implementation.
Jansen explains what the next phase is.
"Now we're moving on to the next phase of that project which is to get all of the clinical documentation, the notes that doctors write. We're getting them all into an electronic format within that Thames Valley health project format."
Jansen says this will take a while to implement and it will be a few years before patients start to notice the new electronic system.
