Indigenous culture will be celebrated with a pair of special events in Oxford County.
Human Service Manager Lynda Bartlett representation and understanding is critical as they look at establishing the Oxford Early Years Child and Family Centres.
"We are going to have inclusive Family and Children Centres throughout Oxford County. So we want to look at offering educational opportunities and relationship building opportunities for everyone in the county."
The first even will feature Tribal Vision Dance, a First Nations dance group based on the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve. They have performed all over the world and Bartlett says they really get kids involved as well.
"It is an entertainment event where Tribal Vision really performs. They do try to get the children involved with education and some opportunities to try out some instruments."
This will be happening during March Break on Friday, March 17th. The first stop is the Ingersoll Public Library at 10:15 a.m. before they head to the Woodstock Art Gallery for 1 p.m.
There will also be another event geared toward adults; award winning author Joseph Boyden will be leading discussions about Indigenous cultural safety and reconciliation. The Workshops will be at the Quality Hotel and Suites on March 21st. Pre-registration is required.
These are free events.
