The darkening skies didn't damper the spirits of those in Ingersoll that came out to celebrate Saturday. Representatives from Great Barrington Massachusetts were in Ingersoll to celebrate a twinning agreement. Ingersoll's founder Thomas Ingersoll lived in Great Barrington before moving to Upper Canada. The honoured guests visited businesses in the downtown core before formal presentations in Heritage Court Park, the site of Thomas Ingersoll's first cabin. Kevin O'Donnell the town manager of Great Barrington was one of those honoured guests and he says, "It's overwhelming just how beautiful Ingersoll it is, how spacious it is, there's so much beautiful country side." O'Donnell added, "I see so many cool similarities in our downtown and Ingersoll's downtown, it's just been a great experience." Ingersoll Mayor Ted Comiskey presented O'Donnell with a golden key from the city. The presentations also featured unveiling of two new plaques in Heritage Court Park, one for Thomas Ingersoll and another for Laura Ingersoll Secord. The weekend festivities will continue on Sunday with a church service followed by lunch.
